Kani Douraku Dotonbori Honten かに道楽 道頓堀本店 - Hanagoori Crab Feast

Kani Douraku at Dotonbori is the main restaurant of the house of crab cuisine where is easily identified by the giant crab figure. With 3 branches around the area, they offers a selection of crab cuisines as well as take away sushi and ready to eat sashimi at the front door of the main store. As always, it is quite uneasy to walk in for a seat, hence is preferably to make reservation online in advance.
Directed to the fourth floor, the restaurant is set in tatami style, with wooden furnitures featuring an intimate and comfortable environment.
The restaurant menu covers a comprehensive list of crab dishes, some comes in a set or some from a la carte.
The seasonal multi course special is offered during August to October, it starts with a beautiful basket of popular crab assortments.
The colourful presentation indeed impresses with crab tempura, shao mai, steamed egg custard and favourite crab sashimi. The most loved is the one slightly seared to give a mere roasted flavor.
Follow by a crab macaroni and cheese, the mini casserole has been filled generously with cheese and a crab leg, with crab sauce topping off the whole dish.
While Japanese pickles are given next, each is served with a tall clay pot filled with luscious Japanese rice, flavored, and topped with lumps of crab meat.
It is recommended to mix and enjoy with hot tea, which is a very traditional Japanese style known as Ochazuke. A sweet refreshment of mini fruit ends our meal wonderfully.
All in all, even though the dishes do not really get on the hypes, it would always be a Dotonbori restaurant to check out in Osaka!
