Issaya Siamese Club - A World Thai Classic

Issaya is an old Thai lexicon for rainy season. It is also a name of an Asian's Top 50 best restaurants that has recently come to join the Hong Kong culinary city. Sister to their branch in Bangkok, where is described with tropical gardens and dynamic restaurant, Issaya Hong Kong features a similar interior design of heritage paint and antique wallpapers, open kitchen and bar, spacious dining room and a lush outdoor terrace.
Offering two tasting menus, a list of a la cartes, cocktails and selection of desserts, Chef Kittichai has transported all his original Thai flavors with fresh ingredient sourced from Thailand, Australia and New Zealand, including aromatic herbs and organic fruits.
The first dish is showcased on a rectangular barbecue box wrapped with banana leaf. The baby back ribs are wonderfully spiced with homemade hot sauce, with a slightly sweet note and meat falling off the bones.
The tuna tartare is another beautiful dish that comes in four servings. Designed with crispy mini wonton cup filled with chopped fresh tuna, it is dressed with a delightful sweet palm sugar-fish sauce, complemented with some crunchy peanuts and spicy chili from head to toe.
After some contemporary twists, the Chef continues to surprise us with three large scallops served with lime-vinegar sauce, deep fried fish skin and pork belly relish. The scallop is undoubtedly fresh and plump, which is a true excellence.
Our meal is marked with a star of the show - Issaya's banana eclair. This choux pastry varys the modern twist of an old-school street food, filled with scrumptious grilled banana custard, sesame toppings and along with refreshing coconut ice cream. The plating is so elegant that has instantly got my eyes on.
Surely this world-renowned classic is a worth-visiting place in Hong Kong.
