Vida Rica Bar - FANtasy Tea

Mandarin Oriental Macau has recently launched a new afternoon tea set at their upper level bar, named FANtasy. At the Vida Rica Bar, we are accommodated with an exquisite view of the Macau landscape and also a quiet environment. Two skewers of citrusy sorbet are first served over cold flame as welcome refreshers. Followed by the three wooden tiers savories and sweets. The panini has its formal grill marks but just a bit too dry on the edges and soggy in the middle due to a spread of mustard. Similarly, the chicken sausage roll in puff pastry is just average. While I especially love the soft squid ink bread with pinkish and tender wagyu beef, the smoked salmon over a beetroot toast also gives a scent of sweet note. On the top tier, besides the chocolate lolly with raspberry mousse, I would prefer the lemon slice with citrus lemon curd more than the chocolate one. Not to mention it is a really dense and fudgy double chocolate cake, the financier also has an obvious taste of almond garnished with pistachio cream. The champagne jelly is so strong that the rose has been completely overwhelmed by the wine. Some raisin and bacon scones are also prepared with the orange passion fruit jam, raspberry rose jam and honey.
In addition, we order their signature mille feuille. It is undoubtedly gorgeous, with crunchy caramelized puff pastries layered between excellent pastry cream that contains real Tahitian vanilla pods. It is a perfection.
The afternoon tea set ends with a 70% hot chocolate. The hot chocolate with specifically high cocoa content are of course bittersweet, smooth but milky at the same time. This is a great day to spend at MO.
