Paradise Dynasty 樂天皇朝 - Dinner

Paradise Dynasty is a partner with Paradise Inn, which is known to be one of the best xiao long bao restaurants in Singapore. Their menu are no shortage of variety and the kind-of-extra-large signature xiao long baos are spot on! According to their tasting instruction, we first start off with the original flavor, followed by ginseng, foie gras, black truffle, cheesy, crab roe, garlic and end with szechuan. My favourites would be the back-to-basic original dumpling, the rich black truffle, the surprisingly stringy cheeses and the crab roe that is also full of flavor. All of them are steamed delicately to perfection with subtle soup. 
We also order a very nice cold appetizer - trio egg loaf made of egg, salted egg and century egg. It is soft and spongy, and three kinds of egg have indeed contributed well in balance. The slightly sweetened pork buns are filled with piping hot broth and seared to crisp at the bottom. Finally, it comes to the seasonal limited laksa ramen. There are options of seafood or pork rolls. The authentic laksa broth is very Singaporean, coconutty, spicy and paired wonderfully with tofu puffs and those huge prawns. Their homemade ramen is also what marks this dinner a notable one. I would want to try their main branch at Singapore soon!

Prompt - Dinner Buffet

This September marks the end of my Club Horizon Membership. We are given 2 complimentary free dinner buffet at the hotel tonight. Although I would always prefer dining at Bar Umami or Nam Fong more than buffet at this hotel, it is still a great treat to have some fresh oysters and sweet indulge. The area is not spacious enough, and food variety is limited. Nevertheless, it is still a comfortable place for a small group to enjoy a dinner.

The Market - Durian Afternoon Tea

This September, at the peak season of Durians, it is especially delightful to be informed that Hotel Icon has invited a special Chef to prepare an afternoon tea with the theme of Durian! The afternoon tea is served at The Market, where I have previously gone for a spectacular  dinner buffet that also includes a variety of durian desserts.
The Durian Combo tea is per person serving, each comes with a compulsory drink choosing from regular coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha or tea such as Earl Grey, Peppermint and Camomile etc.
The aroma coming from the souffle is the first that caught my excitement. It is fluffy, airy and filled with durian flesh. It is my favourite! Followed by the crispy puff pastries layering between the smooth and rich durian custard, hmmm!!! Although the little mini truffle is made of white chocolate filled with fleshy durian, it doesn't count to my liking. The egg waffle assembles the traditional Hong Kong street snack, the filling of durian flesh has kicked it up to a HUGH level, contrasted with the kaya jam on top! Finally, the spongy swiss roll appears green in colour after the addition of pandan juice, its lightness perfectly matches the durian cream filling. We are so lucky to have given a BIG surprise with a free homemade durian ice cream at the end of the meal, thanks Chef! Some free samples of durian cheese tarts are also served, this is undeniably the BEST afternoon tea I have ever had!
*P.S. The high tea has been extended until the end of October, action now durian lovers!

Hee Kee Crab General 喜記蟹將軍 - Dinner

Happy Wedding Anniversary to my beloved parents! We have spent the best night today with our favourite cuisine - seafood, especially CRAB! I have been longing to try Hee Kee Crab signature dishes.
The crab claw in truffle spinach broth is aromatic, chunky and perfect without troubling with a touch of crab shell, while the deep fried version is meaty and absolutely fulfilling. The baked crab shell is stuffed with crab meat, onions and is driven away with the intense curry flavor. The mottled spinefoot congee accompanied greatly with the stir fried noodle, which lighten up the crab oil. And finally, it comes to their signature dim sum - steamed custard lava bun. The magnificent moment when the lava just oozed out from the light, fluffy and slightly sweetened bun, it is to die for!
At the end of the meal, we are also treated well with 3 complimentary sweet potato sweet soups. The gingery based sweet soup is undeniably the best ending of our crab dinner.
