Le Bristol 法國飯店 - Dinner

It has been a year since my last visit to this french bistro restaurant. They haven't changed the menu much with either a dinner set for two including a seafood basket, or normal daily set dinner. I am still impressed with their basket of french bread being served to the table at the beginning of the meal. However, it is disappointing to have a dis-satisfactory tiramisu at the end that is too much on a jelly-style.

Hang Heung 恆香老餅家 - Dessert

Wife Cake, aka sweetheart cake, is a traditional Cantonese pastry filled with sweet wintermelon paste. It was usually for wedding occasion but nowadays we can get them all year round. They have been modified since with lots of different fillings such as red bean, green bean, pineapple and coconut. I would recommend you to try freshly baked ones which are still hot/warm and if you bought take-away, they should be reheated in microwave or oven for a few minutes.
My mom loves these Lao Po Bing so much and today we headed to Sogo basement supermarket @ Causeway Bay to get some. We also bought a century egg puff as I was curious to know how it would taste like when it is wrapped in flaky pastry.

Bengawan Solo - Dessert

Bengawan Solo is originated from Indonesian. It is now famous for their pandan cake and kueh lapis (nine layer cake) in Singapore. During the last day of my vacation to Samui, I transitted through Singapore back to Hong Kong and bought these homemade cakes at the Changi Airport.

Following my Singapore trip, we transit through Changi airport to this wonderful sunny place, Koh Samui. This is also a place with plentiful tropical fruits, especially durians, and no winter season. We basically had seafoods every night for dinner because they were so cheap and fresh.
